Outsider Abstract Paintings

David Sutton is an artist from Wilmington, North Carolina. He works with a variety of mediums such as oil, acrylic, spray paint, oil pastel, crayon, ink, and house paint. Most of his work is done on canvas, although he has also utilized plywood and canvas board from time-to-time. He also dabbles in creating collages with paint and found objects such as marbles, metal bowls, and wire.

He has never studied painting formally, preferring to "play" with paints, tools (brushes, forks, found objects, hands, etc), canvas sizes, and any other variations his imagination may come up with at any given time.  He is an outsider artist who has worked in the design field as a golf course landscape design consultant.  He has worked on many "big name" golf courses such as:  Eagle Point, Firestone West, Pinehurst #4, Greenbrier Sporting Club, River Course, Wade Hampton, Barefoot Landing, Fallen Oak, Escondito and many more.

Now, the world of color inspires him.  The paintings are most interesting when gazed upon for a few minutes at a time, until an "entrance" is found.  Many of them evoke stories that vary from person to person.  Some can even appear 3-D upon studying them.

Enjoy the experience!  Join in the fun!  Seek and you shall find!
